10/26/2003 Archived Entry: "Cable Guy"

Today, well yesterday, I guess it's well past midnight, the cable guy came to my humble (and cluttered) abode. I got myself a cable internet connection. It works well. It operates well with Outlook, and lets me use Putty to connect with my webhost Eskimo North. Impressive speed. My husband has spent much of the day playing Neverwinter Nights online. Online games might well be the dress-up party of Generation-Y. It's all pretty nifty.

My boss is an amateur day trader, so as I'm sitting on the computer at work he keeps getting faxes from various organizations that he pays to provide tips on hot new stocks and trends. One of those companies is urging him to get into the online gaming market, predicting this as a real cutting edge cash cow.
A lot of small companies fax out their new ideas as well, offering new styles of fruit juice packaging or tasty trail mix to eat on the go, looking for a little financial bump. Go Gogurt!

Amateur day trader -- so it's just a hobby, right? Well if it's just a hobby, and he's not planning on making money at it, investing in online games seems like a good idea.
