Just do this. OK? I'm not giving you the direct links, because part of the fun is the process.
Go to google.com.
Click on "more".
Click on "Labs".
Look at all the cool things they are working on, but don't get too distracted now.
Now click on "Google Maps".
Play with the map. Zoom in. Zoom out. Drag the map about with your mouse. Fun! (Sorry, this is pretty much USA only)
Zoom in on your favorite major city.
Zoom in on your favorite neighborhood in your favorite major city.
Click on "Satellite" upper right of the screen.
Neat huh?

Hey That is so cool! I did my house and can see everything around and even in the neighbors back yard! Now I'll be up all night looking for my stolen bicycle!

Pretty cool! It seems to cover the u.k. as well, you just need to zoom out and scroll sideways.
