Sorig nest has been getting pretty ratty. I decided that the little guy was getting old enough to wander about the cage without a nest, so the threw out the old Doc Marten's box that was his birthplace. It then occured to me that maybe I should put something in it's place, so I looked for another box. I found a little box which I though was just big enough. It turned out that the little box was too small, but Sorig sure looked cute tucked into it.

Sorig is growing fast. Here's Mother (Ludvig) and child on Xmas Eve.

Meanwhile Soren is spending most of his time with Marie's new eggs...which should be hatching in a few days.

I've been worried that people might be looking at my blog thinking, "Enough of the pigeons already!!!" but in fact it seems, according to the whopping two emails and one conversation I've had concerning this subject, that people want more pictures of the little pigeon. I guess this makes sense. They say in showbiz don't follow children or animals. A child animal must have lots of pull.

I've been taking to calling him "Sorig" and referring to him as "he". Anyway, this photo is from about ten days ago, when Sorig was about a week old.

A little more than a week later he's looking more like a bird. He is even looking something like a pigeon.

This picture is from today. It's a strange picture. I think the combination of a shallow depth-of-field, subject movement, and mixed lighting made the odd effect, but isn't it interesting?

The little pigeon is growing well. He has the texture of a koosh ball.

The little one is getting older, and uglier! And Mother Ludvig is really protective. They both look just a little evil right now, but they're nice birds once you get to know them.

This is Soren and his new child yesterday. The hatchling is that little tuft of fluff with a beak sticking up. It's really hard to get a good picture. An egg hatched on Tuesday morning or Monday night. He has already grown noticably.

Sadly, the other egg never hatched. I took it and cracked it open. No development had occured. It looks like we have an only child for now.

I suppose I shouldn't be surprised. But let me explain something else first.

There is something called an "admonishment" which can be done by security officers which is basically formal paperwork telling someone that they are to leave the property in question for a year. I end up admonishing a person at my work every few weeks. I don't really like doing it, not because it's scary or hard to do, but I just dislike filling out forms. I have a habit of screwing up forms.

Today I was called into a store, and found a lady obviously troubled, damaging property. There was no violence, but there was some low-key vandalism and obvious mental illness. She refused to leave. The police was called, and I began the admonishment procedure. She seemed vaguely familiar at the time, but so do so many downtown folks barely hanging on to a bare existence.

It was only afterward that I began to remember. It wasn't her face I remembered, it was her hair, manner, and build. I took a job finding workshop with her. Maybe this is a good lesson for me. She seemed OK at the workshop classes, and now she is falling apart mentally doing small-time vandalism in a store decorated for Christmas. I suppose I shouldn't be surprised.

I recently seen an Ebay listings titled , "Rolleiflex DIFFUSER Incident Light Plate WOW!"

This is the final straw. If anyone else out there puts more gratuitous WOW's in their Ebay listings will incur my general disrespect.

Thank you
